“Cosmic Crush” Wins First Place and Monetary Prize at Capital Hill Art League Exhibition
Cosmic Crush
Hockett's work “Cosmic Crush” was awarded First Place by juror April Rimpo for the 10th Annual Metro Open Juried Exhibition of the Capital Hill Art League (CHAL).
During the reception held on Friday, April 9, Judge Rimpo remarked,
The grouping and spacing of the shapes, the repetitive form, and circular shapes of the bubbles — with some elongated — amazingly, looks like a galaxy. I was really impressed at how well this photograph invoked the sense of a real galaxy in a photograph. I'm fascinated with this photograph. The use of color — primarily a very cool background with just a little bit of flash that you would also get looking out into space — it's really beautifully done. So, I had to give this one a First Place.
The online Galaxy-themed exhibit “evokes images suggestive of cosmic vastness, emptiness, otherworldliness, and outerworldliness, yet can represent an internal as well as an outer landscape. Exhibiting artists explore their interpretations of Galaxy through their own personal process."
The exhibit will run from April 5 until April 30. Most works are for sale.
